Back to School Nights Offer Parents Strategies to Support Their Children’s Learning

bookgiveaway

Paul Cuffee 2nd grader Emmett Taylor selects a new book during the Fall Book Giveaway while mom, Valerie, and big brother, Luke, look on. The Book Giveaway was sponsored by RIF and made possible by a grant from Macy’s.

September may mean back to school for kids, but at Paul Cuffee School, October is Back to School month for parents. Over the course of the month, Back to School nights were offered at all three campuses, with over 300 people attending. Teachers welcomed parents into their classrooms to demonstrate curriculum maps, schedules, representative student work and to discuss homework expectations. They also heard about the academic support services available to students at all division levels through the Title I grant.

A Reading is Fundamental (RIF) Book Giveaway, sponsored by Macy’s, took place during the Lower School event where children received new and gently used books to take home to their family libraries.
