Rowing Club Begins at PCS

Paul Cuffee Middle School students at the Narragansett Boat Club learning to row.

Funding from a 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant has made it possible for twelve Middle School students to learn to row after school at Narragansett Boat Club this season. They began their lessons on a wide and stable barge that is steered by an experienced coach. The barge’s stability allows beginners to learn the fundamentals of the rowing stroke before progressing to narrower rowing shells, which the students have successfully done. Cuffee’s Coach Bell and Pierre Touze are their chaperones.
