Eleanor Sears joined Paul Cuffee School as a middle school teacher and was promoted to Principal by Founding Head of School David Bourns. She has attracted, mentored, and retained an exceptional faculty with whom she works closely to facilitate character education and the highest possible academic achievement for all PCS Middle School students. Together the middle school team has developed an innovative, rigorous curriculum; developed differentiated instructional strategies; and successfully integrated into grades six, seven and eight the Developmental Designs approach to maintaining a respectful school culture.
A certified school principal, Mrs. Sears earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Bowdoin College and a Master’s Degree in education from Harvard University. She is also a graduate of the Upper Valley Teacher Institute. She became interested in teaching because of her many summers working at the Bowdoin College Upward Bound program. Her first teaching job was at George School, in Newtown, Pennsylvania, where David Bourns was head of school. Prior to her faculty position at Cuffee, she taught at Rivendell Academy, a public middle and high school in Oxford, New Hampshire.
