About the Wiggins Society

The Wiggins Society was formed in 2007 to support the Wiggins Collection. The Wiggins Society is dedicated to developing the Wiggins Collection at the Paul Cuffee School library. In the broader community, it promotes literacy and literature by and about African Americans and the ideals of social and racial justice.

The goals of the Wiggins Society are achieved through engaging the community and growing our membership; funding the Collection; the publication of an annual newsletter and electronic updates; presentation of the annual Wiggins Event; and in the future, what we hope will be: the Wiggins Society Author-in-Residence program.

Membership Benefits

Membership in the Wiggins Society gives you the satisfaction of supporting the collection that provides our young people with access to African American history, literature and the arts on the special Rosalind C. Wiggins shelves of our school library. With your annual membership also comes:

  • your name on a Wiggins Collection bookplate!
  • admittance to annual Wiggins events, plus the option to invite guests
  • subscription to "Bridges", the Wiggins Society newsletter
  • investment in a community that is helping to inspire and educate Providence youth
  • But most importantly, you will help the School to grow the Rosalind C. Wiggins Collection and the endowment in her name each year.
