PCS 5th Graders Participate in Maritime Adventure

Tech Sergeant Julie Bunker, Assistant to the Senior Air Force Advisor, U.S. Naval War College, discusses military life with PCS 5th Graders, Damarelis Perez and Lizbeth Moreno.

As part of their maritime curriculum on boat design and navigation, the 5th Grade went on a field trip to the Naval Station, Newport, RI. Students had the opportunity to tour the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter, Willow. With its state-of-the-art navigation, Willow is one of the most advanced cutters in the Coast Guard fleet today.

They also visited Surface Warfare Officers School (SWOS) where they went into a simulator and experienced what it is like to navigate a ship.

Finally, they had a picnic lunch with many of the sailors who are stationed at Naval Station Newport.
