Paul Cuffee School’s grade three teaching team, Jennifer Bifulco, Lauren Galoski, and Sherri Poirier, have been awarded a $3,000 Spark Grant to support science learning. The grant, funded by John and Letitia Carter through the Rhode Island Foundation, will assist our teachers in providing real-world experiences for learning in science.
The grant will support activities such as trips to Mystic Seaport, where students will use their inquiry skills related to force and motion, and Legoland, where they will apply their learning in the Race Car Design and Technology Workshop. In addition, the grant will provide classroom materials to support teacher-designed instructional units, where students will develop skills in reading scientific texts and writing in science notebooks.
The three 3rd grade teachers represented PCS at an award ceremony held on
December 17 in Pawtucket. PCS extends its congratulations to these dedicated teachers and its appreciation to the Carters and the RI Foundation for allowing our students to gain valuable new experiences.
