After School Club’s future engineers were challenged with designing a roller coaster for the ASC Theme Park! Students in grades two through middle school took part in the contest.
The students began their projects by researching coasters on the internet. Then, they used their creativity and critical thinking skills to create a blueprint and prototype of their coaster. Students built their models by using recyclable materials of their choice such as paper towel rolls, card stock paper, straws, tape, and cardboard.
On judging day, students across the program cast their vote for their favorite design. When all the votes were tallied it was the 4th grade Funnel Tunnel design that came out on top, with the 2nd grade Cyclone coming in a close second.
Congratulations to all of our participants!
