Recently PCS 11th graders have had a chance to visit the University of Rhode Island (URI) bay campus to explore its many research centers. Students toured the Inner Space Center as well as the aquarium, where they learned about the research conducted on many marine animals.
As part of a marine biology unit, students had a chance to observe and touch sea stars as graduate students from URI discussed their research into marine life disease. It was a great opportunity for students to see how research labs operate, as well as to talk with experienced marine biologists about both their research findings and the path that brought them to this work.
PCS junior Dana-Corin Marks studies a sea star as part of a marine biology unit during a field trip to URI.
