Paul Cuffee School joined forces with the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council and Save the Bay to celebrate International Coastal Cleanup Day, a day to pitch in to help our oceans stay healthy and clean. Johnson & Wales students worked along the river collecting and analyzing trash along the Woonie and the Paul Cuffee School 5th grade Community Service interns joined with the Lower School faculty to clean the Rathbone Street side of the school of litter. Gallons of trash found its way into recycling bins for plastic, glass or paper.
Outfitted with gloves, students sorted through recyclables and tallied and catalogued them by type. The project, spearheaded by Ms. Barr and Ms. Conley, was intended to supply data to the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council in the effort to keep our waterways clean.
