Paul Cuffee School’s Class of 2023 joined an enthusiastic audience of family, friends and faculty at their June 14th graduation ceremony at Roberts Hall on the Rhode Island College campus. The speaking program acknowledging students’ attributes, accomplishments and network of support was delivered by Head of School, Christopher Haskins, Board President, Bradford Gibbs, Voice of the Class of 2023, Ashley Herrera Mantanico, PCUS Principal, Genevieve Schultz, and Keynote Speaker, RI General Treasurer, James Diossa. In his address, Treasurer Diossa described his childhood in Central Falls and the pride of being the first person in his family to graduate from college. His degree in Criminal Justice and subsequent involvement as a Central Falls City Council Member led him to run for mayor at the age of 27. Not unlike Ashley Herrera Mantanico ‘23, whose Graduation Speech received a standing ovation, Treasurer Diossa emphasized the importance of believing in yourself and choosing the path of hope, truth, and justice. Good advice for all of us!
