For the past month, Ms. Goncalves’ 8th grade advisory has been practicing thoughtfulness through acts such as writing staff kindness notes, bringing coffee to our crossing guard, and cleaning up the schoolyard. We’re so proud of them for showing what it means to live out one of the middle school’s Compass values: Be Thoughtful.
During their inspiring “Thought of the Week” presentation on what it means to be thoughtful, Ms. Goncalves’ advisory shared great ideas you can try too!
At School:
🤝🏽 Include someone who seems left out
🍎 Ask teachers if they need help
✍️ Write notes of appreciation to staff
🧹 Keep your classroom clean
🏫 Help new students find their way
At Home:
🙏🏽 Say thank you when someone helps you
🧽 Offer to help with chores without being asked
🎁 Do small surprises for someone (a snack, note, or compliment)
💬 Ask your parents about their day
⚽ Spend time with younger siblings
Throughout October, our middle school will be participating in the Waves of Kindness Challenge to inspire kindness throughout the school. We are grateful to Ms. Goncalves, Ms. Goff, and especially our students for leading by example. We can’t wait to see the ripple effects of their thoughtful actions across our school — and at home!
