At Paul Cuffee Middle School, our educators are deepening their commitment to supporting the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally. This year, they are engaging in ongoing professional learning centered on Developmental Designs, the framework used at the middle school to create safe, inclusive, and engaging classrooms where every student feels seen, valued, and capable.
During recent sessions, two key topics have been in the spotlight: The Power of Words and Redirecting.
- The Power of Words focuses on how intentional, positive language can inspire confidence, strengthen relationships, and build a sense of belonging among students.
- Redirecting teaches strategies for guiding students back on track with empathy and respect, helping them learn from challenges while maintaining their dignity.
This work will continue throughout the year, as teachers build upon these practices to reinforce connection, consistency, and care in every classroom. By investing in this professional growth, Paul Cuffee School is ensuring that our middle schoolers have the supportive environment they need to grow into confident, compassionate learners.
We’re grateful to everyone whose support makes this kind of meaningful professional growth possible. Together, we’re nurturing a community where students and educators can thrive.
