On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Search Committee, we are proud to announce that, after an extensive search, we have selected our next Superintendent, Dr. Sandra Forand.
Dr. Forand is a seasoned educational leader with over 30 years of experience spanning teaching, school leadership, district administration, and state-level education policy. Her roots began as a special educator and she went on to serve as an assistant principal, middle school principal, and assistant superintendent. Most recently, she served as Superintendent of the East Providence School Department, leading districtwide efforts in strategic planning, operations, and instructional excellence. Her leadership has always been grounded in strong instructional practice and a deep commitment to student-centered decision-making.
At the state level, Dr. Forand served as an Educator Quality Fellow with the Rhode Island Department of Education, advancing educator effectiveness initiatives. She also serves as an adjunct professor in the educational leadership doctoral program at Johnson & Wales University.
Dr. Forand earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Northeastern University and holds degrees from Providence College and Rhode Island College. She is certified as a Superintendent of Schools, PK–12 Administrator, PK–12 Special Education Teacher, and Elementary Education Teacher.
Dr. Forand will serve as Superintendent at Paul Cuffee School, where she looks forward to partnering with students, families, staff, and the broader community. She is committed to listening, building strong relationships, and fostering an inclusive, student-centered environment where all learners can thrive.
