Cuffee Cares, Paul Cuffee Upper School’s Mentoring and Leadership Club, challenges and motivates students to reach their full potential through service, connection, and leadership. Led by Spanish teacher Catherine Reyes, Cuffee Cares is rooted in the Upper School’s core values—the “6 B’s”: Be Reflective, Be Responsible, Be Scholarly, Be Supportive, Be Respectful, and Be Brave. This club encourages students to think beyond themselves and actively serve others.
Recently, Upper School students visited the Lower School to spend time reading with our kindergarteners. Before the visit, the older students thoughtfully chose books and practiced reading them aloud to ensure a meaningful experience for the younger learners.
The day was filled with connection, curiosity, and conversation. The kindergarten students were excited to meet their Upper School classmates—they listened carefully, asked thoughtful questions, and shared their ideas with our Cuffee Cares mentors, while Upper School students gained valuable experience in mentorship and leadership. Ms. Reyes noted, “Seeing them spend time together and learn from one another was a beautiful experience.”
Cuffee Cares will return to the Lower School later this month, this time including 5th grade students. The upcoming visit will feature stories about chickens, followed by an introduction to baby chicks, offering another hands-on opportunity for connection and learning across grade levels.
