Strategic Plan 2015-2020

Dear Paul Cuffee School families, friends, and stakeholders,

It is my pleasure to introduce to you the Paul Cuffee School Strategic Plan 20152020, outlining the school’s goals, objectives, and targets marking the continuous improvements we expect to achieve over the next five years. The process for creating this plan was highly collaborative, involving school faculty, staff, families, and trustees, as well as community members. This group came together to develop the plan as a resource for the school in supporting high-quality educational programming that will help our students continue to succeed—and to achieve at levels higher than ever before.

Our vision for the outcomes outlined in this plan is both ambitious and attainable. We have worked hard to prioritize practical efforts that will have the greatest impact on our students and their achievement. At the same time, the plan is intended to be a fluid and living document that will continue to evolve in response to emerging needs. Embedded in this plan is our commitment to supporting best practices while also attending to classroom advancements and innovations that represent next practices.

A constant thread that emerged at the start and continued over the course of the development of this plan was the relationship between academic and social-emotional learning. We understand that these are complementary, rather than competing, interests. The pursuit and attainment of academic excellence improves emotional wellness, and social competence contributes to academic success. These symbiotic efforts are well represented in this plan.

As with any school, our primary goal is to improve the academic performance of our students. Achieving this goal requires a commitment to our core instructional programming, aligned to Common Core State Standards. It also means developing effective, data-driven systems to assist teachers in responding to demonstrated student needs. We recognize that data becomes informational only through collaboration, inquiry, and dialogue. To that end, we embrace the concept of professional learning communities, where teachers provide one another with valuable feedback on their work and that of their students. In order to maximize our ability to succeed in these endeavors, we have also developed strategies around financial sustainability. Our major goals are as follows:

  • Advance students’ academic growth and achievement
  • Strengthen systems to support faculty and staff
  • Ensure long-term financial sustainability
  • Build strategic partnerships

This is an exciting time for Paul Cuffee School. We have in place a strong, supportive culture and a dedicated, committed community. We are excited about the possibilities for our future.

Sincerely,
CJHsignature
